Katlan Holman is a conflict specialist with over 17 years of experience in contentious negotiations, strategic planning, and authentic relationship building. She has worked with over 100 communities in Canada and the US, negotiating agreements, working together on community development, and providing consultation for development projects. She focuses on how to bring people together for a shared future in an environment of competing interests and social challenges, where understanding identities and trusting relationships can be the keys to success. She is a skilled negotiator, trained mediator, and sought after strategic planner with clients from Government, business, the energy industry, property development, and NGOs.

In addition to her consulting clients Katlan pursues research that focuses on complex social issues, designing empirical based data collection and uncovering strategies to navigate the complex constellation of forces behind the issues. Her practice is grounded in complex systems thinking and based on Interactive Conflict Resolution Theory (Ronald Fisher, 2014), Polarization/Simplicity Theory (Peter Coleman, 2018), and Dynamic Systems Analysis (Giorgio Gallo, 2013).

Katlan holds a Master of Arts in Conflict Analysis and Management from Royal Roads University and a Bachelor of Arts double major in Political Science and French Language & Literature from the University of Alberta. She also has certificates in Environment, Health, & Safety, ERM ISO 31000, Theory of Change, and Balanced Scorecard. She continues to work towards her Certified Mediator accreditation and Credentialed Evaluator designation.

Katlan sits on the Board of Canadian Adaptive Skiing & Snowboarding – Calgary, is an Advisor for the Indigenous Partnership Success Showcase, and works with Community Mediation Calgary Society as mediator and conflict coach. She is a member of the following organizations:
